Nintendo finally revealed the official name of the 3DS sequel to the 1991 SNES classic, A Link to the Past as: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

With this, Nintendo released a fantastic trailer to celebrate the official title of the game and show off more gameplay. For veterans of the 1st game, a lot of the over world map gameplay looks VERY familiar as well as the sounds effects used for moving to different dungeon floor levels, using the fire cane and the hammer.

The new ‘2D Painting’ Link ability was shown off, seeing Link become completely flat, 2D style, against certain walls allowing him to traverse obstacles and puzzles. Looks pretty nifty.

I’m still surprised that Nintendo is releasing this with the original top-down view and with almost all the original sounds and music from the soundtrack. Now Nintendo just has to apply the same level of quality to a ‘spiritual sequel’ to the Super Metroid and I’ll be in gaming heaven!
