We were going to hold off on this post until December, but due to the fact that things are quiet today (which they never are) - and the fact that quite a few people have emailed us this week about it - we decided to use this opportunity to talk about the people we're looking for to join The 405 team.

Below you'll find descriptions on the positions we need filling, and the type of people we're looking for. Unfortunately at this point in time, all positions are unpaid, but it really is good experience (many of our writers have ended up working at big magazines/newspapers/sites that have bigger budgets than we do.) We also won an award this week - so you can say "I work for an award winning website" if that helps.

Have a look through, and if you feel like you'd be a great addition to the site just email us at hello@thefourohfive.com with the required information, as well as making it clear what position you're applying for.

If you don't receive a reply within two weeks, feel free to submit another application.

Music/Film/Art/Game Writers

We're always looking for writers to join our Music/Film/Art/Games departments, and today is no different. We're looking for people with real talent, and ideally people with writing experience (though that's not 100% necessary). You need to be objective, but also passionate about what you're writing about. You need to be knowledgeable and know what they're talking about. We need people that can commit to writing regularly, and stick to deadlines.

To apply, send us the following info: Blog/Website Link, twitter link (if applicable), what you're looking to cover (interviews/reviews/features/live), why you want to write for us and a review (100 words max) of your favourite album/film/game of the year.

Update:

We also need an American based news writer.

Features Editor (Music)

This is perhaps the most important position we're looking to fill. We need someone that can take control of the features side of the site, sort schedules, edit content and be passionate about interviewing bands (you'll be doing plenty of that). The ideal candidate would be based in London as we have more face-to-face interview opportunities going in London than anywhere else, but that's not 100% necessary. The right person will need to be hard working, dedicated and have enough free time to do the job justice.

To apply, send us the following info: Blog/Website Link, twitter link (if applicable), why you want to write for us, and why you think you're the ideal candidate for the position.

New Music Team Writers

The requirements for this are the same as you'll find in 'Music/Film/Art/Game Writers' section above, except this will based entirely around the new music section of the site. We need people that love finding new/unheard tracks to talk about, as well as new bands to bring to the world. We need people that can submit articles at least 2 or 3 times a week, and people dedicated to shine the light on the latest tracks (no matter how big or small the band are) that fit in with what we cover on the site.

To apply, send us the following info: Blog/Website Link, twitter link (if applicable), why you want to write for us, your top 5 albums of the year, and why you think you're the ideal candidate for the position.
