Rapper 50 Cent, perhaps the most well-known mainstream rapper throughout the 2000s due to his mentoring at the hands of Eminem and his public feuds with Kanye West which included him planning to quit making music if he lost a bet about record sales (Fiddy lost but never stopped making music, if you stopped keeping score in 2007 or just completely forgot this happened), has been charged with domestic abuse offenses.

According to the Los Angeles Times, 50 could face up to five years jail time as well as a $46,000 fine after his ex-partner of three years, who he also has a child with, reported an incident that occurred on June 23rd in which the rapper allegedly began to destroy the woman's apartment and then attack her. 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, was not at the scene when police arrived at the scene, but officers noted broken chandeliers and furniture in the woman’s condo as well as a destroyed bedroom closet.

"Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office," City Atty. Mike Feuer said. "We will continue to look out for the safety of all victims of domestic violence and seek justice for the alleged crimes."
