Modest Mouse were at the center of a rather brilliant discussion on Reddit last night following a bet from one of its users.

From what we can gather (because the original post has been edited) the user - Power0utage - is trying to screw over a friend who offered up $1,000 if Modest Mouse play "two specific songs" at their New Orleans show next week. The idea is that if enough people see the post, the band might take notice.

This is most likely a case of someone trying to "go viral", but the main thing to take from this is that Modest Mouse apparently "suck" live.

Some of our favourite comments:

"Can you put the $1,000 dollars towards a time machine that would take you back to when modest mouse was relevant?"

"Modest Mouse are a notoriously bad live band. I'll donate $1000 if you get them to cancel their show and prevent them from disappointing all those fans who have never seen them live before."

"Saw them at the Engine Room its in Houston, Texas. He was drunk off his ass and we couldn't understand a word."

"If i became a murderer and i had to chose 1 set of victims.. It would be the whole band of modest mouse.. I have never ever heard worse music period. I really wish they got in a accident that stop their band from ever performing again..."

Bonus cuts:

"If that's not staged, this is the straightest, whitest, most boring conversation i've ever read. I'm willing to donate money towards burying this."

"Bands love it when you yell out requests that aren't on their set list that they've rehearsed for months on end."

"Modest Mouse will be thrilled when they discover I followed them on Spotify. Therefore, they definitely like the deadly combination of peanut butter and dogs. This comment makes no sense. Have a great day Bolivia!"
