"And me and Drizzy both wrote on Detox," Lil Wayne raps on 2009's 'Ransom,' a hit that brightened Drake's star. When Drake was 19, he was filming hit show Degrassi, while working on his music - and now newly disclosed, writing for Dr. Dre.

In his new book The Song Machine: Inside the Hit Factor, released last October, American journalist John Seabrook is claiming that Drake was working for the West Coast legend in LA, under Aftermath Records. Seabrook states that Drake told him the work was a daunting chore at the time. "It was some of the most strenuous militant shit I’ve ever done. But no useable songs came out of it. When I think of how he worked us, it’s no wonder he didn’t get anything out of it. It was just writers in a room churning out product all day long," Drake apparently said.
