"You can wrap yourself up in the ambient, warm washes of sound but you can never quite relax. There's always a jagged beat or a sharp vocal to shake you out of your comfort zone. Strange Weekend is a spiky little gem amongst the soft-edged faux pearls of their dream pop peers."

In our review of Porcelain Raft's latest album, 405 writer Paul Kerr went a long way towards explaining the world that Mauro Remiddi has managed to create with Strange Weekend, though it seems like Remiddi considers the process as a "work in progress." The idea of approaching an album with the idea of capturing two days (a weekend) - rather than making something timeless - also explains a lot about the movement found in the album.

We caught up with Remiddi to talk about his ideas, how he started out and his dreams of being the future pope.
