A. Swayze & the Ghosts are a band from Hobart, Tasmania, fronted by Andrew Swayze and filled out by his group of high school friends Hendrik Wipprecht (guitar), Zackary Blain (drums) and Ben Simms (bass). Their long-standing relationship gives them a natural chemistry, which has allowed their music to expand beyond their island origins and catch the attention of British powerhouse label Rough Trade, who will put out their new 12" single 'Suddenly'/'Reciprocation' on March 29th. The A-side of that single, 'Suddenly', is online today.

Across razor-edged guitars and thunderous rhythmic backing, A. Swayze & the Ghosts pummel into your eardrums with barely-checked ferocity. Immediately swept up in this tide, you'll quickly realise that Swayze is singing from a woman's perspective, singing about the gender imbalances still rife in modern society. 'Suddenly' was in fact co-written by Swayze and his wife, who puts her real-life experiences out in the world through the band. Even without the battering-ram action of A. Swayze & the Ghosts backing, the anecdotes would be disturbing, but set aloft on the aerodynamic guitars the inequality will batter your psyche, energising you to stand up in this fight.

You can pre-order 'Suddenly'/'Reciprocation' here, and follow A. Swayze & the Ghosts on Facebook, Twitter and Bandcamp.
