David Bowie is from Brixton. So it's only logical that a three-story, nine metre red and blue lightning bolt be erected right in central Brixton for the rest of eternity.

The memorial has been named #ZiggyZag and it will mimic the iconic make-up the late icon wore on the cover of Aladdin Sane. Expect that coming to Tunstall Road, where fans gathered the day Bowie died last year.

"Startling, stupid and utterly joyous in equal measure, this is a piece of public art that the whole community can be proud of," says Charlie Waterhouse of This Ain't Rock'n'Roll, who created the project. "It's totally Brixton, utterly Bowie."

The project is crowdfunding for £1 million, and you can donate to the David Bowie memorial here.
