"It was a privilege to direct the music video for Adele's beautiful, heartbreaking song," says director Xavier Dolan. "When I first heard it, all the images were already running by so clearly in my head - and her trust and generosity allowed me to create freely."

Update [22/10]: It turns out that Adele's new album will be called 25 – as we all thought it would. But hey, at least it's confirmed now. We also now know that it will be released on 20th October, that the photo above is the album's cover art, and that below is the tracklist.

She said in a statement:

“Hello,” the debut single from “25,” will be available to buy and stream on Friday October 23rd. The cinematic video for “Hello” will also be revealed on Friday October 23rd. It was shot in the countryside surrounding Montreal and is directed by the celebrated young Canadian director Xavier Dolan (Mommy, Tom at the Farm).

A couple of days ago, Adele shared snippets of a couple of tracks from her forthcoming new album via an ad break during X Factor on Sunday.

Now she's posted a note to Twitter, detailing the difference between her previous album and her forthcoming release, and describing a turning point in her life after turning 25 – which, you can probably safely assume, is the name of the upcoming album. You can read that below.
