Scottish folk musician Alasdair Roberts has been releasing albums since the start of the century, and last week he released What News, his second collection of traditional songs. With him throughout the album are collaborators Amble Skuse, adding electronic elements, and David McGuinness, playing pianofortes and fortepianos of various vintages (plus the odd dulcitone).

Today we have the pleasure of bringing you the video for 'Fair Flower of Northumberland', which honours the traditional in many ways, but puts a subtle and amusing twist on it. Directed by Trevor Thomson, the video focuses on Roberts with his band and collaborators , and features a performance from Sgàire Wood dancing around them in character. Overall, the video for 'Fair Flower of Northumberland' only adds more captivating layers to this beautiful recording.

What News is out now on Drag City.
