Ali Barter makes a statement return with the rambunctious ‘Ur A Piece of Shit’. It would seem Ali keeps some questionable company as she describes this as an ode to her best friends. She arrived in 2017 with equally outspoken, socially aware tracks such as ‘Girlie Bits’ and ‘Cigarette’. Now Ali is back with even more to say, releasing a video and song that highlight the anxieties and issues women face on a daily basis in the ever-increasingly difficult-to-maneuver modern world.

She manages to tackle the heavy topic of struggling with multiple personalities by using humor within her music and video. Although at some points it may get stomach-churning gruesome, ‘Ur A Piece of Shit’ is undoubtedly comical and Barter comes across as likable, if somewhat bizarre. Speaking on the track she explains: "'Ur A Piece of Shit' is an ode to my best friends. It’s about the things we went through as teenagers and how they’ve affected us in adult life, and how those experiences have bound us together," says Ali, "I also invited my girls into the studio to sing on the song. So, you can hear them all in there; my little Piece Of Shit Choir.”

After becoming a cult phenomenon in her native Australia, it seems Ali is primed to take her scuzz-pop sounds global. With a charismatic approach to facing life’s problems head-on, she’s the guitar-wielding breath of fresh air we could all desperately do with in 2019.
