The #emorevival is so, so real. It was speculated that the countdown on American Football's website was counting down to a reunion, and that's exactly what happened. The band will be getting back together to play two shows later this fall, their first in fifteen years. In addition to the shows, they're re-issuing their lone self-titled record in a deluxe edition which will be out on 20 May via Polyvinyl.

In a statement, Steve Holmes said "Obviously, we knew the time was ripe for three middle aged dudes to play some old songs about teenage feelings, and stand around tuning guitars for a long time." Seems like a good enough reason for me! The first of those two shows will be in the band's hometown of Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, at the Pygmalion Music Festival. Other acts on that bill include CHVRCHES, Deafheaven, Panda Bear, Real Estate, Sun Kil Moon, Speedy Ortiz, Tycho, Mutual Benefit, Ex Hex, Wooden Shjips, and others still to be announced. It's the tenth anniversary of the festival and takes place from 25-28 September. They've also announced a show in New York City at Webster Hall.
