So here it is: a list of the top ten highest grossing music industry entities* of this year (2015). I know what you're thinking already, "what wtf where is Adele?" Whoa there, whoa, that's right, calm, it's ok. Adele's new album 25 basically only just came out, so she isn't quite setting out on her world tour yet (she has announced UK/EU dates, though). Why does that matter? Because touring is where it's at in terms of money.

Proof of that is the non-stop touring Katy Perry, who has earned $135 million this year, closely followed by One Direction who raked in $130 million. They're the only two acts who actually broke the $100m mark so they're the only ones whose names I wanted to type; they, and the rest, are listed below.

  • 1. Katy Perry – $135 million
  • 2. One Direction – $130 million
  • 3. Garth Brooks – $90 million
  • 4. Taylor Swift – $80 million
  • 5. The Eagles – $73.5 million
  • 6. Calvin Harris – $66 million
  • 7. Justin Timberlake – $63.5 million
  • 8. Diddy – $60 million
  • 9. Fleetwood Mac – $59.5 million
  • 10. Lady Gaga – $59 million
