Last night on BBC Radio 1, Animal Collective's Brian Weitz (aka Geologist) spoke about the band's upcoming album Centipede Hz and on what went into the album.

The band moved back to the Baltimore area to record the album and according to Weitz, it was like returning to the band's roots.

"We got a little practice space in this bar on Josh (Dibb, aka Deakin)'s mom's property and it was basically like being a garage band again."This one we wrote more as a rock band in a room and we wanted to record it that way as well".

Centipede Hz will be released on September 3rd in the UK (September 4th in the U.S.) on Domino records and a new single off the album is scheduled to be released this summer. [via Pitchfork]
