It's been a minute since Anna Meredith released her debut studio album Varmints, but she hasn't exactly been quiet, putting out her collaboration with the Scottish Ensemble in a reimagining of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and writing/performing the score for Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade, among other things. But now she is returning to her own world with FIBS, an all-new studio album that will see release on October 25th through Moshi Moshi.

On the title FIBS, Meredith says "[fibs are] lies — but nice friendly lies, little stories and constructions and daydreams and narratives that you make for yourself or you tell yourself.”

That slightly cheeky point of view certainly characterised Varmints and continues to thrive in the whirlwind sound of new single 'Paramour'. A pinwheeling synth display, Meredith and her band are free-wheeling from the fist moment through a ferris wheel of tones. The momentum continues to build as Meredith and her band add propulsive percussion, wailing guitars and booming horns and woodwinds. This constructs a massive platform, on which Anna Meredith and her crew stamp around in noisy joy, making for an emphatic finish to the song.

Anna Meredith's new album FIBS is out on Moshi Moshi on October 25th (pre-order). She's got these live dates in store:
