It's been announced that 6.5 million people have decided to continue using Apple Music as paying subscribers. Whether or not that's because they forgot to turn the toggle off in settings is neither here nor there when business and numbers and money is involved, right?

This means that they have around a third of the number of subscribers boasted by Spotify, whose paying users total 20 million. It's not such a big shock; whilst Apple is a well-established company, it's not had the years of building itself up as a sole entity made for music streaming, as Spotify has.

8.5 million, however, are still using Apple Music as a free trial. This all adds up, of course, and has delighted Apple CEO Tim Cook. "I think it's fabulous, and to have over 15 million on there, and 6.5 million in the paid category, I'm really happy about it," he said at the WSJD Live conference in California.
