London duo APRE have released their most urgent offering to date ‘Backstreet’. It’s a bitter bop that channels Jungle, Everything Everything and in some places, Hall & Oates. It’s a heady mix of alt-pop with swirling guitars, funky bass lines and hand-clap vocal bridges. After touring with the likes of LANY and Fickle Friends, the pair have learnt how to pair simplistic pop structure with the right level of bombast.

The duo met in unlikely circumstances, after both making music separately it was the organiser of the local chess club they attended who suggested they link up. They quickly bonded over a mutual love of varied artists including Tears For Fears, Foals, The Police and Mystery Jets. They quickly started to craft a sound and have been releasing assured alt-pop numbers such as ‘Backstreet’ since. Speaking on the new single, the pair commented it’s “about being lost in relationships through your life whilst trying to find a shortcut through to the backstreets of happiness.”

The band will shortly embark on their own UK headline tour and play a headline show at Camden Assembly in London on November 23.
