When Pharrell Williams first appeared with that enigmatic hat at the 2014 Grammy Awards, nobody knew the Vivienne Westwood-designed item would be worth over $44,000 (about £26,000).

Following plenty of abuse/love/confusion, Pharrell submitted his hat to auction in order to raise money for From One Hand to Another, a non-profit organisation. Pharrell Williams saw the winning bid coming from a rather unexpected source: Arby's food chain, whose logo looks a lot like Pharrell's Buffalo hat.

The revelation was made prior to last night's Oscars ceremony (during which Pharrell performed with a new hat), with this tweet-exchange making the honours:

Pharrell Williams' new album G I R L is out today.
