The first details regarding next year's BRIT Awards ceremony have just been unveiled: Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry are performing at the event, with both acts will be taking to the BRITs stage for the first time.

"The BRITs has always showcased the music that I love and am influenced by," says Katy Perry. "It's an honour to play at such a prestigious event where musicality shines at its brightest."

Also confirmed is James Corden's return as host for the fifth and final time: "I really love the BRITs. I'm such a fan. I'll miss not doing it after this one but fully intend to enjoy every second of BRITs 2014." The ceremony will be fully transmitted by iTV, with The BRIT Awards Nominations Launch getting a standalone show. "We are extremely ambitious for the 2014 show, showcasing global superstars and celebrating the incredible success of British music," says BRITs Chairman Christian Tattersfield. "We are going to pull out all the stops to make this the biggest and most exciting BRITs ever."

In other news, this year's BRIT statue is being designed by Philip Treacy, creator of some of the world's most famous hats and awarded an OBE in 2007 for services to the British fashion industry.

The BRIT Awards 2014 will take place at London's O2 on February 19th.
