There's something a bit soul-destroying Aretha Franklin covering Adele'. Now listen, it's got absolutely nothing to do with purist feelings towards a legend covering a young artist - it's quite nice that one of the greatest singers of all time can tip her cap to a new generation - but it's just plain terrible. The production is horrible, the backing vocals are jarring, and the 'mashup' of 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' is just plain wrong.

So, press play if you dare (it's from her new album Aretha Franklin Takes On The Great Diva Classics - out October 21st), but we'd suggest reaching for that Greatest Hits album instead, because those songs still sound great.
