Polly Mackey aka Art School Girlfriend is a Wrexham-born multi-instrumentalist and producer who has been putting out a steady stream of singles in recent years. She will be putting out her second EP Into The Blue Hour on September 28th via Wolf Tone.

Art School Girlfriend recently relocated from London, where she been working for a little while, to Margate, where she has fallen in with the burgeoning creative scene. Into The Blue Hour is a document of this transitional period in her life, and in lead single 'Distance (Blank)' we have a confessional track about the self-doubt and difficulties that come with these big life decisions, expressed fearlessly and fascinatingly.

In 'Distance (Blank)', Art School Girlfriend lays down a burbling synth melody and couples it with high-strung atmospherics. In this space she opens up honestly about her inner conflict, the soul-shredding indecision, and the difficulties of overcoming it. She expertly builds on the electronics of the song to mirror the rising frustration within her, as she comes out and boldly states "lately I am in over my head." With poise beyond her years, Art School Girlfriend allows these feelings to become enmeshed with dramatic progressions, rich instrumentation, and a subtly cloying atmosphere, which fill in the inexpressible blanks of her fractured psyche.

'Distance (Blank)' is out now on all streaming platforms, with Art School Girlfriend's new EP Into The Blue Hour arriving September 28th. She's also got some live dates planned, so catch her at one of these performances:
