Aurora's debut album, All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, is finally out today (March 11th) on Decca Records, and to celebrate we asked the Norwegian superstar to guide us through it. Check out her explanations below, along with a stream of the album.

This song was written when I was around 11/12 I think. It's strange how this song fits my life better now that I could ever imagine when I wrote the song itself. It's about how important it is to have a soft place to fall.

This song is a rather strange one. It's an important contrast to all the other songs on my album - it's actually a bit happy! I wrote it with some of my band members during 2013 once. It was just for fun, we didn't even know if anything good would come out it!

Running with the Wolves

This song was written during the blood moon in 2014. I just imagined the moon turning all the people around the world into wild animals, running away from all the rules, all the materialism and technology. Just being a part of nature again, running free.

Winter Bird

Sometimes you need to be reminded of how it was to feel alive. It's a tricky situation to find yourself in.. When you've forgotten about your reasons to live.

It's about realizing that you've been through dark tunnels in life, but still walking forward, both feet strong. We are all lucky to be alive, it's an important thing to remember.

I Went Too Far

I started written this song when I was 9! Added the bloodlines when I was a bit older, though. It's a reminder of how important it is to not give yourself away for anyone else's love. Way too many people tend to stay in relationships where they go through verbal and physical abuse. It's a huge issue that needs awareness.

Through the Eyes of a Child

This is a very important song for me.

"I can't recall last time I opened my eyes and saw the world as beautiful." Be a warrior of light, only we can make this world a better place. "Let love conqueror your mind."

Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)

It's a tragic love story. Very tragic. The saddest thing is that he really loves her.

"We are not alive...we're just surviving every time." It's not a good way of living, making yourself numb, trying to let every day pass by as quickly as possible. But at least it makes us happy for a while. We are home.

Under the Water

I love to sing this song live. It reminds me of my roots. It's dark, a bit folky and it got tiny inspirations on percussion etc. from some Norwegians metal bands. I love heavy metal.

Black Water Lilies

Under the water there is a magical land, filled with wonder. I'm floating on a river and I end up in a place surrounded by a thousand black water lilies. It was a dream I head once. It was originally seven black water lilies... But a thousand sounded better.
