Last month the readers of The 405 chose Cerulean by Baths as their favourite album of 2010 (here). Following that, we decided to catch up with Will 'Baths' Wiesenfeld to find out how he felt about receiving that accolade and to find out a little bit more about this amazing record. Photobucket In your own words, what is Cerulean about? It's not necessarily about something, but there are some consistent themes running through the album... water, in particular. Maybe Isolation. Lyrically it gets sort of intense at moments, but it is told through a very positive lens. I went into the recording process with the idea that it would be a very positive album, and one that would serve its purpose as a good first impression for my music. I think it worked!! :) How do you feel about all the praise that has come with the records release? It's wonderful! I just have to understand that it is a fleeting and fragile thing... Critics are really enjoying the album, but that may not be the case for the very next thing I do. I have to truly be proud of the music and comfortable with putting it out before subjecting it to the world of reviews and public opinion. That way I know I put together the best music I could, and other people shouldn't have any effect on my processes and my attachment to an album. If you were to pick one track from the record as your favourite, what would it be and why? I like them all for different reasons... 'Rain Smell' is more along the line of my everyday listening, so maybe I have an affinity for that song in particular? I don't know if it's my favourite? Maybe it is? Right now it is, I guess :) How are you going follow such a great record? I'm not going to do anything different. I'll just make music the way I always make music! I do know, already, that the next record is going to sound a lot different, but I'm confident enough in how I make music that's a positive prospect. I couldn't be more excited :) To people that haven't listened to the record, how would you sell it to them? I have no idea... I'm terrible with that sort of thing. Maybe I'd just tell them that I care about it a lot! Lastly, what would you like to say to all the people that voted for you? Thank you!! It is an honour. I can only hope that people continue to be as pleased with my music in the future!! LYFE!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 You can visit Baths by heading to http://www.myspace.com/bathsmusic
