Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced the prequel to the Batman: Arkham franchise. Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on October 25th 2013.

The game will be set several years before the events of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, predating the rise of Gotham’s most notoriously dangerous criminals. You will control an unrefined, younger Batman who faces adversity in his early career as the caped crusader on his way to becoming the Dark Knight.

Alongside the console game, a 2.5-D styled game will be accompanying the release on the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate.

According to Warner Bros. President Martin Temblay, Batman: Arkham Origins will expand the already successful Batman: Arkham series, building upon Rocksteady's legacy with new developers WB Montreal taking the helm for this title. Let's just hope they don't pull a Joel Schumacher
