E-40 is a damn institution. The man drops albums (hell, entire trilogies) just about every year, rarely even taking a break since dropping his debut in 1993 (to not even mention his material prior). What's more, they're - almost without exception - actually good each and every time, making 40 just about the most reliable man in hip hop this side of Snoop Dogg.

Having dropped thirteen (yes, thirteen) albums since 2011 alone, even his boundless energy grew a tad over-saturated, and 40 seemed to realize it, pulling back from his recent two to three albums a year rate to release a solitary album in 2018, The Gift of Gab. Alright, two, counting his collaborative effort with cousin B-Legit: you just can't keep the man still. Regardless, it was a slow year by E-40 standards.

Not one to keep fans waiting, he's now prepared to drop his twenty-sixth solo album, in the form of Practice Makes Paper. The second installment in a trilogy that began with Gab, Paper was actually intended to come after what's now presumably the third chapter, The Rule of Thumb; apparently inspiration led in a different direction. Regardless, another project from the man who puts together more jams in a few years than most rappers can hope to manage in a career is always reason for excitement.

The album doesn't currently have a release date, but stay tuned to The 405 for more news. As a first tease, E-40 has dropped off a new song and video, 'Melt'. Yet another reliable hyphy romp from the man who took the sound worldwide, you can check out that visual below.
