The BBC hopes to launch an online music streaming program called 'Playlister' which will give users the opportunity to listen to huge archive of recorded music from over the years.

A BBC spokesperson told The Telegraph that, “The BBC is regularly in conversation with digital music providers about how we strengthen radio’s position as the number one place for discovering music in the UK”.

The project is being led by Tim Davie, the BBC’s director of Audio & Music, and should be available for UK users by early 2013.
