This morning, BBC Radio 6 mainstay Lauren Laverne proudly announced the upcoming acts for the station's annual Maida Vale Sessions.

“I can’t wait for October to come around," she says. "It’s going to be yet another brilliant year for the 6 Music Live at Maida Vale sessions with this amazing line-up which encapsulates the spirit of 6 Music."

This year's sessions, running from October 6th through the 10th, will feature: Johnny Marr, First Aid Kit, James, La Roux, and Underworld. This year, however, BBC Radio 6 will be expanding its celebration of live performances with an extensive 6 Music Live.

As part of the effort, the network will be featuring live performances from the likes of Alt-J and Robert Plant, starting September 9th and running through the remainder of the week. As well, once this year's Maida Vale sessions conclude, Radio 6 will be running more than 300 live performances from October 11th to the 14th. Of which include: St. Vincent, Mogwai, Neneh Cherry, Lee Fields and hundreds more.

In a statement, Head of Programmes at 6 Music, Paul Rodgers, said; "BBC Radio 6 Music brings richness and quality to its audience of almost two million music lovers. With well over 300 live sessions from a range of bands who exemplify the spirit of alternative music, 6 Music works hard to support live music all year round. 6 Music Live is the perfect opportunity to showcase that commitment to live music which is at the heart of this network."
