The last we heard from the Beastie Boys vs. Monster Energy Co. saga (they used the group's music in a video without permission), Monster Energy were looking to file an appeal against Beastie Boys' court victory:

"We will make an application to the Court to set aside the verdict and we intend to file an appeal. From the inception, Monster Energy has been willing to resolve this matter in a fair and equitable manner and we will continue to make additional efforts to reach a just resolution of this dispute."

However, it seems the legendary rap group were far from happy with the $1.7 million they were awarded. Due to the length of the case, which the group's lawyers are claiming Monster Energy did little to fast-track (quite the opposite, it seems), it ended up costing them $2.4 million in legal fees. That's a hell of a lot of money to defend your work.

The group are looking for Monster Energy to pay said costs, which seems fair.
