Last year, Beck released the beginning of one of his most ambitious projects: Beck Hansen's Song Reader. It was a 20-track “album” in the least conventional sense—it was released as sheet music.

Beck allowed fans and musicians alike to try their hands at the material on the official Song Reader website. Until now, though, few had heard what the original material actually was intended to sound like.

Beck performed several of the album's songs last night at the Rio Theater in Santa Cruz, including these versions of 'Sorry' and 'Heaven's Ladder'. Watch the performances below and check out Beck's remaining tour dates after (one of which, July 4th at the Barbican in London, will feature a huge array of supporting artists, including Franz Ferdinand, Jarvis Cocker, and more).
