The new bedroom-pop princess known as girl in red has released another superb single to kick off the year with ‘watch you sleep’. girl in red, whose real name is Marie Ulven, is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter hailing from Norway. The virtuoso bedroom artist has a knack for ethereal echoes and lovelorn lyrics. With ‘watch you sleep,’ the rising artist once again reflects with dreamy compositions and agonizing vocals as she watches the one she holds close sleep.

‘watch you sleep’ is for the dreamers of a better, more loving tomorrow. The gentle melodies will take hold of its listeners, placing them in a nostalgic state of mind. The yearning single captures the small, intimate moments of being love-struck upon deep musings from within your bedroom walls. With Ulven’s beatific vocals at the forefront and instrumental arrangements adrift in reverie, ‘watch you sleep’ is bound to reach the most delicate strands of one’s lovesick heart.

On her new track girl in red had this to say: “I wrote watch you sleep in one sitting at 2 am. In my head I had this short film playing in my head of a memory I have. I just wrote what I saw and felt. It was really weird and overwhelming. I literally cried while making this cause it made me so emotional. The song is really different from everything that’s out so far. This song shows a completely different side of me. That’s exciting and scary.”

‘watch you sleep’ is first of several new songs expected to be released this year from the girl wunderkind. In 2018, girl in red shared her striking debut EP, chapter 1, followed later by stand alone singles ‘we fell in love in october’ and b-side ‘forget her’. She’s currently working on her sophomore EP, the appropriately titled chapter 2.
