Composer and producer Ben Frost is to direct a stage adaption of The Wasp Factory the 1984 novel by the late author Iain Banks.

The novel - detailing an account by a troubled teenager growing up on a remote Scottish island - is set to be performed in Austria, Germany and the UK. Australian-born Frost will also provide the score, having previously soundtracked a number of contemporary dance pieces. British theatre director David Pountney will handle the text.

The Wasp Factory will start at Austria's Bregenz Festival from August 1st-3rd and will then head to Berlin’s HAU Theatre from September 26-28th. It will then embark on a seven-night run at London's Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre from October 2nd-8th.
