Beyoncé, Sony, Columbia, and Parkwood Entertainment have being sued by filmmaker Matthew Fulks. He's arguing that Beyoncé's team were aware of his 2014 short film Palinoia prior to filming Lemonade and the two have similarities for days. (See: parking garage, black and white eyes, grass scene, side-lit ominous figures etc.)

Fulks claimed that after being contacted with the opportunity to work with a few Columbia artists, the label was sent the short film. In July 2015, Fulks received a note inviting him to submit a video treatment for consideration by Columbia and a year later, the filming began for Lemonade.
