Great news for string section enthusiasts and Björk fans alike: she'll be releasing a version of Vulnicura stripped back to string arrangements and her vocals. It's called Vulnicura Strings (Vulnicura: The Acoustic Version) and it's getting a digital and CD release next month (6th November), with a vinyl edition scheduled for 4th December.

Whilst featuring violin soloist Una Sveinbjarnardóttir, the new version of Vulnicura will also feature the stylings of the viola organista. What is that? It's an instrument originally designed by Leonardo Da Vinci with a keyboard (like an organ), but instead of plucking or hitting the tuned strings within, pressing a key rotates a mechanical belt that vibrates the strings (like a viola) – genius.

The first taster of the album, a stringy version of 'Lionsong', is below for your listening pleasure.
