With so many dates announced for this year, including All Points East in London on the weekend just past, it seemed likely Bon Iver would be releasing some new music soon. Justin Vernon's project has indeed given up the goods, dropping two new tracks today. Both songs can boast a hefty guest list, with Vernon commenting:

"This project began with a single person, but throughout the last 11 years, the identity of Bon Iver has bloomed and can only be defined by the faces in the ever growing family we are."

The first is 'Hey Ma', a more electronic-focused track akin to the direction Bon Iver was heading in the last record, and can boast Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak as guest guitarist/vocalist and production assistance from BJ Burton - among plenty of other players. The lyricism seems less obtuse than the direction Bon Iver has been heading recently, but of course interpretation is open to the listener.

The other new track, 'U (Man Like)', may appease fans who have been hoping for a more stripped-down and folky Bon Iver to re-emerge, as it is centred around twinkling pianos and Vernon's voice. However, in the mix are also contributions from Jenn Wasner, Bruce Hornsby, Moses Sumney, Brooklyn Youth Chorus + Bryce Dessner - among others.
