This month The 405 will be travelling to Groningen for the 33rd Eurosonic Noorderslag, the biggest European showcase festival and music conference. With about 300 acts playing 40 different venus across the Dutch city, it's easy to get too overwhelmed and lose track of what to see; fear not, we're here to bring you a few suggestions that will hopefully help you craft your own personal line-up.

If you're in the habit of checking out Bonjour Motherfuckers to stay au courant of the best new French music around AND you'll be taking part in this year's Eurosonic festival, enjoy this special edition of our beloved column featuring some of our favourite acts from Croissant Land that will be heading North later this week.

Kompromat (France) - Simplon Main, Fri Jan 18th at 23h45

Eurosonic will see the one of the first ever live shows from Vitalic's new venture Kompromat, which sees the legendary French producer joining forces with Rebeka Warrior for a project heavily influenced by Berlin techno. While not much has been unveiled as of yet (apart from amazing debut single 'Niemand'), this is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the festival for electro fans in general and French Touch in particular.

Juniore (France) - Huize Maas Main, Thu Jan 17th at 20h45

A Bonjour Motherfuckers favourite, the Parisian trio Juniore travels to the Groningen with their latest EP Magnifique under their belt. Mixing the oh-so-French elegance with a twist of 60s surf, they'll be showing why the whole Europe is hopelessly falling at their feet — a new addiction for you to obsess over during the winter as beautiful and intense as white-grey skies over the Seine.

Rendez Vous (France) - Der AA Theater, Fri Jan 18th at 23h

One of France newest (and most exciting) exports, quartet-turned-quintet Rendez Vous have just released their excellent debut LP Superior State after a first EP back in 2016 put them in many "ones to watch" list. Their synth-based cold-wave post-punk does evoke its fair share of Mancunian vibes, but it's the unspeakable tension bubbling under each song that keeps you coming back for more, and more, and more.

La Fraîcheur (France) - Simplon Main, Thu Jan 17th at 1h15

Ever since Nastia's excellent set at Madrid's Brunch In The Park I began paying more attention to women DJs — and falling hopelessly in love with them. Currently Berlin based La Fraîcheur is one of those recent coup-de-foudres, and I must confess it only took me a few seconds into 'The Movements' from her debut album Self Fulfilling Prophecy to get hooked on those magnificent beats injecting even more life and power into Angela Davis' words. An absolute addiction for anyone who's a sucker for good techno.

Le Villejuif Underground (France) - Vera, Wed Jan 16th at 1h15

Borrowing its name from a Parisian suburb (Villejuif), this project sees Australian Nathan Roche joining forces with three Frenchmen. After a first album released via SZA Le Villejuif Underground have signed to Born Bad Records and are now ready to take the world by storm. Their trademark is paradoxically their hard-to-define style — although anything "garage" comes to mind whenever one tries to do so. A new LP is due out soon.

Eurosonic Noorderslag 2019 takes place in Groningen on January 16th-19th. For full line-up and ticket info head over to their website.
