When I think of the words "bass" and "funk," it is hard not to think of Bootsy Collins. Without this fabled funkateer, we wouldn't have much of Parliament's catalogue, let alone musicians like Childish Gambino who have found the joys of mimicking Collins' delectable style of funk. As Collins pushes on toward his first album in six years, World Wide Funk, which drops on Oct. 27, he is throwing it back to his own legacy with his new single 'Worth My While.'

Collins is in top-tier form on 'Worth My While,' fusing elements of his vintage sound with something decidedly modern. His signature rubberband bass buoys the track around a sensual swirl of heavenly female vocals and fiery guitar outbursts.

World Wide Funk will release on Oct. 27 through Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. But while you dream of that release, take a listen to 'Worth My While' below.
