To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of David Bowie controversial stand alone single 'John, I’m Only Dancing' the Thin White Duke’s label EMI is giving the song a special 7" reissue. The single was originally released in 1972 but never made it onto 1973 album, Aladdin Sane. Despite reaching 12 in the UK charts the song was never released in the US because the lyrics were deemed offensive by the powers that be as the song tells of a man defending his innocent actions with a woman to his gay lover.

The reissue will see the single printed on 7" picture disc vinyl and will be released on the 3rd September. Watch the typically psychedelic video for the song, which was banned by the BBC below.
