Boy Azooga are a band of young male upstarts from Cardiff, led by Davey Newington, that have been gigging for less than a year, but in that time have built up enough of a rep to attract the attention of any who have caught their powerful live act. Amongst those were legendary label Heavenly, who have snapped up Boy Azooga for their debut release.

The first single, 'Face Behind Her Cigarette', arrives today full of energy and swagger belying their relative newness. The guitar chug combined with the click-stepping percussion and African-tinged melodies makes this utterly irresistible.

Singer Davey says of 'Face Behind Her Cigarette': "This song is basically just a celebration (rip off) of the late great William Onyeabor. I wanted the percussion to be purposefully a bit too loud, maybe by the usual standard. Loads of Onyeabor's percussion is blaring in the mix, but it makes it sound so live and feely. I wanted to create that feeling of being in the room where the music is being played."
