Referred to fondly as Bestival's Little Sister, Camp Bestival takes place amongst the stunning scenery of Lulworth Castle, Dorset, and provides a slightly more laid-back, family friendly alternative to the hip hedonism of the Isle Of Wight event. If that sounds slightly too sedate for you, however, think again, as the inclusion of Angelina Ballerina and Mr Tumble certainly doesn't mean the exclusion of wonderful acts such as DJ Yoda, Calvin Harris, Marcus Brigstocke, Dan Le Sac v Scroobius Pip and Tim Minchin. Now gearing up for it's third year, Camp Bestival once again has a line-up that will delight young, old and everyone in between. Pulling out all the stops, the main stage headliners this year will be Madness, Friendly Fires and Human League. Also to be seen knocking about the place over the weekend will be George Clinton, Mr Scruff, , Annie Mac, Stornoway, Kid Carpet, Billy Bragg, The Cuban Brothers and a whole host of musicians, comedians and poets alike. What more could you ask for? Well actually, as it turns out, quite a lot. For alongside this rather fantastic line-up, Camp Bestival also manages to squeeze in real ale, farmers markets, a tea-tent run by the local W.I, theatre in the woods, an animal farm, Bramble FM radio roadshow and Medieval Jousting. Not to mention the Bestival Bluecoats who will be on hand all weekend with fun and games, as well as providing a cheery 'Hi-De-Hi' wake-up call in the mornings. (It's true, they really do this). And this is before I've even mentioned the Knitting Tent, Pink Flamingo Cocktail Bar, Fancy Dress Tent (with the Fancy Dress Parade occuring on Saturday; keep your eyes peeled!), Freestyle Sports Park and Son Et Luminaire - the fantastic fireworks show that closes the festival on Sunday night. Having been to both previous Camp Bestivals, I am basically as much of a veteran as one can be at this stage. I can truly say that I have had fantastic times there in 08 and 09 and am thrilled to be going back this year. I've also managed to make it in to both official videos in the past, so I've got my fingers crossed...Keep your eyes open!
