Caribou has returned with the first new music since the release of Our Love in 2014; the new single is called 'Home' and just had its world premiere on Radio 1. Dan Snaith, the Caribou figurehead, has not been absent this last half decade, having released and toured aplenty under his producer/DJ moniker Daphni, but many will be glad to see him return to the luscious and tropical sound of his main project.

Speaking on 'Home', he says: "I'm always listening to lots of music and sometimes a loop just jumps out at me - it's too perfect. That's how it was with Gloria Barnes' 'Home' - I kept returning to it, meaning to do something with it but not knowing what. Sometimes making music feels like a process I'm in charge of ... but there other times, when things just present themselves and my job is to follow their lead. It wasn't until the circumstances of someone close to me mirrored the refrain of the original song that the track all came together."

That central sample is what immediately catches the ear, but in a way akin to his crate-digging contemporaries The Avalanches, he modernises it and wreathes it beautiful folds of delicious instrumentation. The track captures something ephemeral and fragile about its central figure, made all the deeper by the detail of the sounds all around her story. At under three minutes long, 'Home' is just a teaser of what Caribou is capable of - but demands multiple re-listens.

Caribou will also return to live duties in 2020, make sure to catch them at these dates (tickets are on sale at 10am on Friday from here):
