Awkward news, right? Drake's 'Hotline Bling' was the song of the year, covered by Sam Smith and Disclosure, also by Alessia Cara, and remixed by Erykah Badu - whose recent mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone seemed to be at least partly inspired in part by the song.

And then there was the video, in which Drake - always happy to be contributing to the world of memetics - finally became an actual meme himself. Big stuff.

So it's even more awkward when Hits Daily Double have reported that Cash Money Records forgot to submit 'Hotline Bling' for consideration at the Grammy awards. What? Did the song become so huge that it became more a part of everyday life and culture than a song that can be subject to awards? Maybe. Either way: 'Hotline Bling' is almost definitely, awards or no awards, the biggest song of this year.

With this and that whole Lil Wayne thing, Cash Money don't exactly have the greatest of track records.

Nevertheless, Drizzy is still up for five Grammy Awards. Though it would've been so much better for the internet if he'd gotten six (6).

Let's relive that splendid video right now.
