She's our latest obsession.

Hailing from Stratford, Ontario -- a region that gave us, among other geniuses, Neil Young -- Cat Clyde grew up with the likes of Etta James, Leadbelly, and Janis Joplin as the main ingredients to her musical diet. Traits of which can be found in her music.

Following 'Mama Said' and 'The Meadow', Clyde is back with yet another superb preview of her forthcoming debut full-length, Ivory Castanets, which is due out next month. 'Like A Wave', whose video we are proud to premiere here today at The 405, is a slice of folk heaven that will have you counting down the days until the LP is released.

Although she's currently touring the US, Cat Clyde was kind enough to find the time to answer a couple of questions about her life and work. You can find that below, along with the stunning video.

When was the last time you tried something new?

I feel like I'm trying new things all the time. Currently, I'm driving across the country, going out west and driving all the way down to New Mexico to promote my upcoming album. All places I've never been and things I've never done.

If a movie was made about your life, what actor/actress would play you?

Nicholas Cage.

What inspires you?

I feel like I get most of my inspiration from nature, whether it's a hawk flying over the highway or a beautiful sunset. There's always something to be learned in nature.

What did you dream about last night?

Lastly, what are you currently working on?

I'm getting ready to release my first album on May 5th and then getting in the studio as soon as possible to record a new album that I already have written.
