As reported recently, The Mars Volta have called it a day, however it looks like we'll be treated to some new material from some of the key members soon. Omar Rodriguez-Lopez has formed a new act Bosnian Rainbows whose direction takes more of an alt-pop turn compared to the prog-rock of his former band.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala is also promising to rise from the Volta ashes with a solo project of "sweet luv songs". Taking to his twitter account the former At the Drive-In frontman revealed he is working with another fellow Mars Volta Member in Juan Alderete as well as Noah Georgeson, Jonny Polonsky of Axis of Justice fame and Megapuss man, Gregory Rogove and revealed the new word will be; "Lots of desert ballad space jams, lots of harmonies, lots of lap steel and piano. Lots of AM radio love songs. Short bitter sweet luv songs."

Bixler-Zavala did warn fans “I'm not making a rock record. It might lightly rock but not like I'm known for." So if anything, this new stuff sounds… well… interesting to say the least.
