Recently we brought you 'In This Modern Land', the sweeping comeback single from Melbourne's City Calm Down. With it we promised more news from the band about the second album, and today they have revealed that it is called Echoes In Blue and will be released through I Oh You on April 6th.

Further to the album announcement, City Calm Down have also shared the opening track from Echoes In Blue, 'Joan, I'm Disappearing'. The track taps into feelings of despair and worthlessness, as our singer deals with a break-up; "['Joan, I'm Disappearing'] is about coming to terms with the dissolution of a long-term relationship and how neglect ultimately led to its breakdown,” singer Jack Bourke comments.

Despite the gloominess of the subject matter, City Calm Down still make 'Joan, I'm Disappearing' into a grand and soaring declaration. Bourke may feel like he's disappearing in the wake of heartbreak, but in this song he is lifted to front and centre, the memories reeling through his head brought into soft focus by the band's propulsive instrumentation and ascendant synth use, cutting through the darkness with streaks of light. Bourke's central wretched figure is eventually swallowed up by the beauty of the song, showing that in the end life wins out, and even if you feel as though you might be fading away, you will go on.
