On May 21st, 2012, acclaimed slowcore band Codeine will be releasing a reissued 2LP and CD boxset of their work along with a massive 6LP and 3CD box set on the Numero Group label.

In the early 1990's, New York City's Codeine (consisting of Stephen Immerwahr, Chris Brokaw and John Engle) were a critically praised band on Sub Pop records but unfortunately, the band dissolved before the eventual success of other slowcore bands such as Bedhead, Low and the Red House Painters.

Albums included in the box set are 1991's 'Frigid Stars', 1992's 'Barely Real' and 1994's 'The White Birch' which can be purchased separately along with the mentioned box set collection. The albums have been restored from their original masters and along with it, are a myriad of singles, live recordings, demos and Peel sessions. As an added bonus, you can expect the packaging and liner notes to get the Numero Group treatment, always a good thing and a boon for collectors who might like the fact that the ultra deluxe box set of all three albums will be limited to only 1000 copies.

Also, Codeine will be touring in the US and Europe with their first tour date being on the weekend of May 25th to the 27th at All Tomorrow's Parties at the Alexandra Palace. Along with the Alexandra Palace dates, the band will be also playing the ATP Stage at the Primavera Sound Festival on June 1st in Barcelona and on June 8th in Porto.
