Cola Boyy is the moniker of Matthew Urango, a California-based musician who blends diverse musical and cultural heritage into modern disco funk bangers. Cola Boyy’s background is a real mix of cultures, dating back to colonial America with a Scottish and Portuguese heritage courtesy of his mother, and Chumash, African-American and Mexican though his father - but none of that truly matters when it comes down to listening to his truly irresistible grooves.

The stated aim of Cola Boyy's music is to bring people together, and when a song is as open and fun as his new single 'Penny Girl' then it has just as good a chance as anything else. It's a stomping dance track with a hazy indie filter, over which Cola Boyy's unique vocal turns a cloying message into something of complete freedom and abandon. Punched through with disco licks, 'Penny Girl' is exactly the kind of song that you could imagine going into hard rotation at roller discos, house parties or festivals very soon.

The video for 'Penny Girl' allows us to get to know Cola Boyy a bit more, as he takes us on a tour of his home of Oxnard, California. Check it out below.

Cola Boyy's debut EP is called Black Boogie Neon and will be released on September 21st by Record Makers.
