Temporary Residence know a thing or two about packaging, having been responsible for - among others - the beautiful William Basinski's Disintegration Loop set a while back.

The new record from United Nations boasts a panoply of special editions almost as impressive as the SHREDDING GUITARS throughout. The vinyl version of the record comes in a box absolutely packed with stuff - you're talking about two 7"s, a 10", a cassette AND MP3 downloads, as if they couldn't decide which format to go for and just thought 'fuck it, let's do all of them at once'. Even better, the box is inspired by old New York Times covers, with in-depth faux-news stories that bring to mind the kind of attention to detail and mythology that Nation of Ulysses brought to punk rock with '13 Point Program To Destroy America'.

Every box has been hand-assembled with remarkable attention to detail - and the piece de resistance is that the cassette is wrapped up with actual copies of the 'cease and desist' letter the UN sent to the band about their name. Now that's what we call sticking it to the man.

The record's up for preorder now, and the special editions are flying out of the door.
