Hugh ‘Crewdson’ Jones doesn't make music like the rest of us. A live sampling and beat programming foundation is layered with reprogrammed joysticks, motorcycle handles, bottles of beer – whatever he can get his hands on to manipulate unique sounds. The modern electronic soul output can appear ad-hoc and at times disorientating, but the ever expanding assembly of glitchy stop-start beats and samples is incredibly rewarding, innovative and mysterious. 'Trapdoor', which follows on from his recent 12” Dust EP (which we loved at The 405), is a blissful-future-soul-2-step-glitch monster of a single taken from his upcoming debut album Gravity’ – due out for release 20th June. 'Trapdoor' is released on May 23rd on Slowfoot Records.
