French electronic duo Daft Punk have just been confirmed to play next year's Grammy Awards ceremony, which will take place on January 26th.

"Conversations took place over a period of a couple of months, and finally they agreed to be a part of this year's telecast," executive producer Ken Ehrlich told Rolling Stone. "Details of the performance are still being worked out, but the idea of having the exclusive television performance by this iconic band is something we're very, very excited about."

The news follows the unfounded rumours that they would be playing MTV VMAs back in August and should be their first TV performance since 2008. The duo is up for four Grammys, including Album of The Year and Best Dance/Electronica Album (for their acclaimed album Random Access Memories) and Record Of The Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (for Summer Anthem 'Get Lucky').

Update: Kendrick Lamar has also been confirmed for the event.
