Band names based on siblings and family members seem to be all the rage, what with Brother, Twin Sister, Mumford & Sons, Wolfmother, Sons & Daughters, The Secret Sisters and Empire of the Sun (bit tenuous that one). Daughter, who consist of London-based singer/songwriter Elena Tonra and her friends, make beautiful, beguiling folk music. Landfill perfectly frames Tonra's breathy and seemingly cathartic lyrics which drift over gentle percussion and a simple acoustic melody. Comparisons to Laura Marling can be expected but I'd position her a little closer to Bat For Lashes. Following a strong performance at Great Escape, Daughter are playing Bushstock and Lounge On The Farm. You can download their EP, His Young Heart, on their bandcamp page.
